If you want to learn, practice small melodies slowly. Look into the possibilities of your DAW and look at your usable plugins. Try out plugins for your melodies. Try to make beats as well. I find beats easier to make than melodies. After you have a melody and a fitting beat, combine them. Check out what you can do to make the melody stand out. For example, add atmospheric melodies, bass, and sound effects. Listen to other artists' songs to support your own creativity.
